Scott Dixon Should Relish 59th Career Win No Matter the Circumstances

Scott Dixon may have benefited from a mistake by teammate Alex Palou, but he shouldn’t let that overshadow his achievement. During the NTT IndyCar Series Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Dixon had positioned himself perfectly to seize victory with his two-stop strategy, waiting for any missteps from Palou to capitalize on.

Scoring his 59th career victory and now having won in 23 different seasons, including 21 consecutive years, is a monumental achievement—mistake or not from his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate.

“I had big dreams to be racing, but to be in this scenario, to be with this team, to work with the people I work with daily is unbelievable,” said Dixon, who has raced for Ganassi since 2002 and has clinched six series titles 777pub net makati. “I don’t know what this is — 24 years or 23 years with the same team, it’s pretty sweet. We just have to do a better job and work harder. Hopefully, we can keep pushing on that door until it opens like it did today.”

This victory brought fulfillment for Dixon and the Ganassi team, especially since it has been challenging to find success this season. Dixon has previously won multiple races by saving fuel, but this was his first victory utilizing the new hybrid system, making it harder to leverage that skill. In contrast, Palou has excelled this year by managing tires efficiently and using optimal setups for the final stints, demonstrating a flawless performance—until Sunday.

“Nothing in particular happened. Just lost it a little bit, then kind of got into the marbles and went off [the groove],” Palou admitted. “It was a big, big mistake on my part.”

If Palou continues to make errors, he can expect Dixon and others to take advantage. Dixon managed to position himself well after starting ninth—a better starting spot than he has had for much of the season, which allowed him to implement his two-stop strategy effectively.

“Each race I go to, I’m there to win,” Dixon said. “This year has been super frustrating for us, for all of us on my car. Anytime we could have something work out in our favor, it just hasn’t.
